On Thursday, the senior TDP leader Raavi Venkateswara Rao, who was a former Gudivada MLA, created a stir in the club, where he was relaxing. He took out his revolver, fired in the air and then managed to run away from the site.
On receiving information, the police rushed to the site and asked him to surrender along with the revolver. It is heard that the former MLA was inebriated and then fired two rounds.
As per eye-witnesses, he ran tawards the local MLA Kodali Nani of YSR Congress Party, who was also in the same club, with the revolver. Both the leaders were at the club to attend the 10th day ceremony of a theatre owner who died in the town.
However, no one injured in the incident and reports stated that the licence of the revolver had expired a year ago.
